Newburyport is opening a new and permanent Recreation and Youth Center, a purpose-built space that will support Newburyport Recreation & Youth Services (NRYS)’s mission to deliver transformative programming and support to the City’s youth and teens. While public funds have made the construction possible, it is the generosity of our community that will bring this center to life with vibrant furnishings, innovative technology, and inspiring spaces where youth can gather, grow, and thrive.
Our goal is to raise $1 million to provide additional funding for furniture, fixtures, equipment, technology and high impact facility enhancements beyond what was included in the original $8.3 million public project budget. To date, $500,000 has been raised and committed.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS
While public funding supports the building, it does not fully cover other essential components that make a youth and recreation center exceptional such as:

Safe, welcoming, and functional furnishings for after-school tutoring, teen nights, indoor recreation, and more
Modern technology infrastructure for digital learning, programming, and administrative efficiency
Flexible spaces and quality finishes that adapt to the evolving needs of our community
A public-private partnership that protects taxpayers from future burdens while maximizing community benefit

Naming Opportunities

Name a room or area in honor or in memory of a friend, family member, loved one, or to create a lasting tribute or memorial. A plaque outside the room, office, or other area will recognize the tribute. Donors will also be listed on the Donor Recognition Wall.

Donations are tax-deductible through the Port Youth and Recreation Foundation and will be used to off set the cost of the building and materials needed to run programming.

We will have a community fundraiser starting in early 2026! Prices will run from $500-$10,000 and will create an opportunity for you to be recognized in a very cool way at the new building!
